New media gives us the world to explore through the palms of our fingers. Countless inspirations, artworks, and content are seen everyday. With this plethora of material to use and study, it is easy to see how creativity can be boosted.
I know there is a difference between inspiration and plagiarism and copyright. People must still be careful in their use of new material and must still show originality. I am not saying because of new media the world is one big copy right playground. Yet, there are clear similarities in many things. These things include, artworks, tv shows and especially music.
In the article, "Disney Tolerates a Rap Parody of Its Critters. But Why?", by Brooks Barnes it is shown that Disney Company was lenient on what they considered copyright. They considered it fair use of their creations. The parody created a whole new life form in the use of someone else's product. There is a fine line always walked between fair use, and copyright. But new media has turned the world into a sharing environment.
